Who It’s For

Why Do This Course

A First Step Into Early Years

Preschools, playgroups and family services all start with these ideas.

Useful If You Are A Parent

Development stages and feeding come up at home too.

Two Subjects, One Course

Child psychology and child nutrition sit in the same enrolment.

Where The Skills Fit

Where These Skills Could Take You

Early years teams want people who understand what a child needs. Days look like play, routines, meals and watching how each child is doing.

Child Development Assistant

Support activities that help children grow.

Early Years Support Worker

Work alongside a preschool or creche team.

Preschool Programme Aide

Help run the daily programme and routines.

Family Services Assistant

Support families through a service or centre.

Playgroup Leader (Entry Level)

Run play sessions for small groups.

Roles where these skills are useful, not promised outcomes. Every job is different. Counselling and psychology roles in Ireland need approved study, supervised practice and registration.

Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need experience with children?

None at all. The course is built for beginners.

How long do I get?

Six months of access, and around one hundred and twenty hours of material.

Are there exams?

None, ever. You move through the topics at your own speed.

What are the two strands?

Child psychological development, and children's development with nutrition.

Will this get me a job in a creche?

It is a strong start, and the ideas are the ones early years teams use. The college recommends further training or an internship for hands on experience. Many people use this course to find out whether the work suits them first.

Do I get anything on completion?

A Certificate of Achievement, plus a year of association membership.

Is this course accredited?

It is accredited by ICOES and the CPD Standards Office. It is not a QQI course and not a national award, and it is not a route to professional registration. It is introductory learning, and it is priced and paced that way.

What if I change my mind?

There is a fourteen day money back window, minus the administration fee.
