Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need experience first?

None is needed. It is built for people starting out.

How long does it take?

Around one hundred hours, at whatever pace you set.

Are there exams?

None, ever. You work through the modules and finish.

Is the content heavy going?

Some of it is. The course carries a content warning for distressing material.

Is this course accredited?

It carries ICOES and CPD Standards Office accreditation. It is not a QQI course and not a national award. It is a first look at crisis work.

Can I work as a crisis counsellor after this?

You will know how the work runs and where the limits are. It does not lead to registration as a counsellor or psychologist in Ireland. Support and volunteer roles are the usual next step.

What if I change my mind?

There is a fourteen day money back window, less the admin fee.

Who should I talk to first?

A course advisor. Tell them the job you want and ask if this fits.
