Good to Know

Common Questions

Do I need any background?

None at all. It is built for adults starting fresh.

How much study is it?

Around three hundred hours, taken at your own speed.

Are there exams?

None, ever. You work through the four parts and finish.

Is the content hard going?

Parts of it are. The course carries a content warning for sensitive material.

Is this course accredited?

It carries ICOES and CPD Standards Office accreditation. It is not a QQI course and not a national award. It is a grounding for support and crisis work.

Can I practise as a family therapist after this?

You will have the methods and the vocabulary. It does not qualify you to practise as a counsellor or psychotherapist in Ireland. Support and outreach roles are the usual next step.

Can I study from anywhere?

Yes, anywhere in Ireland with a connection.

Who should I talk to first?

A course advisor. Tell them your plan and ask if this fits.
